"FROM PAST TO THE FUTURE MULTICULTIRALISM:
ISTANBUL AND HER SISTER EUROPEAN CAPITALS OF CULTURE 2010"

Bođaziçi University Tourism Administration Department students of “Event Management” course have been working on organizing a Forum to make the local and the International communities aware of the series on Mega/ Small  Events, as well as the multiculturalism of the city for 2010: Istanbul the Cultural Capital of Europe. 2007 students Project was on setting the strategic plan of the Forum on “Multiculturalism and Conservation of Istanbul Heritage for the year 2010”.

While 2008 students taking this report as a base tried to revise & develop an operational plan. They also put more emphasis on building the local residents awareness of the Cultural heritage of their own environment. While simultaneously they were interacting with Pecs & Essen which also are announced to be the Cultural Capital of Europe for the year 2010.

Therefore the topic was also revised to be more compatible with the content of the Forum in Project 2008.

This project is one of the events that the BU Tourism Administration Department is organizing for the year 2009 & 2010.

Target Groups

Sector members, academicians, students, local and public administrators’ residents of the cultural heritage counties, and representatives of the organizing committee of 2010 Istanbul/ Pecs/ Essen.

Mission

"The mission of the forum is to highlight, develop and sustain the multiculturalism and heritage of Istanbul, and reflect these among the residents of Istanbul and international communities."

Vision

"Our vision is to regenerate the historical identity of Istanbul, build awareness and create a sense of pride about the multicultural heritage of Istanbul among local people."
